Synthetic heptapeptide

Selank is a synthetic peptide of seven amino-acid residues: threonine, lysine, proline, arginine, proline, glycine, proline. Its first four residues are the sequence of tuftsin, a tetrapeptide fragment of the immunoglobulin G heavy chain; the proline-glycine-proline tail is a synthetic addition that slows cleavage by aminopeptidases.
It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and is produced by chemical synthesis.
Selank is not an approved drug in the United States or the European Union. It has been registered in Russia; the research material listed here is not that product.
