Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2: the sequence contains α-aminoisobutyric acid, 2-naphthylalanine, and two D-configuration residues, none of which a one-letter rendering can express.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide with the structure Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2, built from α-aminoisobutyric acid, histidine, D-2-naphthylalanine, D-phenylalanine, and lysine, ending in a C-terminal amide.
It was identified at Novo Nordisk within a series of compounds lacking the central Ala-Trp dipeptide of growth-hormone-releasing peptide-1, and described by Raun and colleagues in 1998. In the literature it is characterised as a ghrelin-receptor (GHS-R1a) agonist.
Ipamorelin is not an approved drug in any jurisdiction.
